Fall Session Recap

Well, as to be expected, I challenged myself to blog each day in the month of September – and then TOTALLY fell off the bandwagon. But it was for a good reason, I promise! The past several weeks have brought family and newborn portrait sessions, two new wedding clients for 2018, educational workshops, and tons of exciting developments behind the scenes.

September kicked off with a day of princess sessions for some very lucky little girls. I sourced some ahhh-mazing couture gowns just for the occasion, and the looks of joy on their faces as they twirled around was simply unforgettable.

A few days later, I had the pleasure of photographing the Dent family’s first portrait session – EVER! That’s right, this family of four had never been in front of a professional photographer before, and I’m absolutely thrilled that they chose me for the honor. They chose the image on the far left to enlarge to a stunning 30×40″ wall portrait for their kitchen. It’s gorgeous, and I love knowing that it’s bringing joy every single day.

I love it when old friends contact me to photograph their big milestones, so I was thrilled to create these maternity portraits for my friend Stephanie. Steph and I were sorority sisters in college, and now she and her husband are expecting their first child – a baby girl! I can’t wait to meet her in November.

Sweet baby Gwynn was my model for some new projects and techniques. I photographed her twice – once before upgrading to a state-of-the-art lighting system and attending Kelly Brown’s newborn workshop, and again after. I can see my work progressing towards what I want it to be with each baby I photograph, but these two elements have totally taken what I’m able to create for clients to the next level.

Next, I got to meet the Reese family for their family portrait session. Of course it was about 90 degrees on the day of this “fall” session, but we worked quickly and got the images we needed without anyone breaking a sweat! Alisha was referred to me by another client, which is one of my faaaavorite ways to meet new families. It totally warms my soul when clients love my work and trust me enough to share my name with their own family and friends.

What an incredible month! The fall portrait session is in full swing, and I can’t wait to share all the amazing things going on in October. Until next time!

Sailboat Engagement Session in Baltimore's Inner Harbor

 01

Engagement sessions are meant to be romantic, intimate, and centered on the quiet connection between two people in love. For Zack and Kara, their sailboat engagement session in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor was the epitome of romantic engagement. There is something about being out on the water with sunlight dancing across the water’s surface and the […]

I’ve honestly lost track of how many times I’ve photographed this family now, and each time truly gets better and better! Sticking with one photographer over the years is one of the best things a family can do, because it allows everyone to feel more comfortable and genuinely enjoy the session. One thing is certain, […]

When you have clients that love and appreciate art as much as Isabella and Jory, you find a way to showcase that love in photos. For them, that meant a National Gallery of Art engagement session. It turned out more perfect than I could have imagined. Including personal items or highlighting shared interests is something […]
