The Brown Family | A Milestone Portrait Session

A Milestone Portrait Session

GUYS. I’m gonna go ahead and spoil the ending for you – there’s a 30TH BIRTHDAY DONUT SMASH in here! You may remember the Brown family from baby Zion’s newborn session last spring. Well, he’s all grown up now and just celebrated his first birthday! His mom also turned 30 this month, and what better way to celebrate all these milestones than with a portrait session?

We had a lot to accomplish during our time together: updated portraits for a family of six, a champagne and donuts smash for mom, and a fishing-themed cake smash for baby Zion. But if there is any family that could pull this off in record time, it’s the Browns! These four kids are SO good natured and such a joy to be around. We’re always prepared for a meltdown during a family session, but there was not a single tear our entire time together! They laughed, they played, they showed me their unique personalities and gave me so much gold.

Tricia wanted some portraits of her celebrating her 30th birthday in style – with champagne, donuts, and tons of pink and gold details. The light breeze made those balloons hard to manage, but Justin had us all cracking up with his balloon-wrangling skills. It takes a village to pull off Pinterest-worthy photos! Sadly the “3” floated away, but it just made us laugh even harder!

What I really love about Tricia’s vision is that it’s all about her, and I think that’s awesome. It’s so common for moms to hide behind their kids or to only celebrate their children’s milestones. I’m definitely guilty of that! These photographs not only show Tricia’s playful and gorgeous side, but they also show the world that she might have four kids, but she still MATTERS and is worthy of celebrating! I hope these images bring joy for years to come, and maybe even inspire other moms to treat themselves, too!

Last but certainly not least, we wrapped up with a cake smash for baby Zion! In typical Brown child fashion, he was totally laid-back and happy the entire evening. That continued while he dug into his cake, which was fishing themed to coordinate with his first birthday party! I love a baby in denim overalls, and Zion’s did not disappoint!

Please enjoy lots of favorites from the Brown’s session! Happy birthday, Tricia and Zion!

There’s something incredibly special about capturing couples in a place that feels like home… especially when that place is Brooklyn, NYC. For Danny and Paige, choosing their neighborhood of Williamsburg for their engagement session wasn’t just convenient. It was deeply personal. It’s where they live, walk their dog, grab coffee, and live their lives together. […]
