Colton is One! | A Messy, Nautical Cake Smash Session

Colton is One! | A Messy, Nautical Cake Smash Session

Colton’s first birthday is right around the corner! We first met this little guy last fall for his parents’ engagement session. Lindsay and Chris’s wedding day was just a few weeks ago, but today was all about Colton. He was born in Annapolis and is already a preppy little dude, so a modern nautical vibe was perfect for him! Peep those little Sperry’s that he wore to the studio – SO CUTE!

Leigh and I constructed a balloon arch in shades of turquoise, with loose balloons scattered around. My favorite touch was the nautical bunting which tied the whole look together. This bunting is actually from my own wedding, six years ago! It was so special to repurpose it for baby Colton!

The birthday boy was all smiles the entire time he was at the studio, especially while holding balloons! They even held his attention better than the cake! Colton took a few bites, but eventually let us know he was done with it in pretty spectacular fashion. Scroll down to see what I mean!

Happy birthday, Colton! So glad we got to celebrate with you!

Understanding the key difference that could make or break your portraits, the distinction between posing and art direction, is something many […]
