The Hom Family | A Destination Family Portrait Session

The Hom Family | A Destination Family Portrait Session

The internet really is an amazing thing. I met my friend Val six years ago in an online group for brides planning their weddings. We’ve stayed in touch all this time, as the conversation moved from wedding to babies to kids, even though we’d never physically met.

Until now, that is! I got to meet Val, her husband Matt, and her two littles in New Jersey for a destination family session over the weekend. We had the best time, and I’m so thankful to have finally gotten to hug her in person!

Family sessions with a toddler and a newborn can be stressful, but these four did SO well! Big brother Emmett just needed some space to wiggle and be himself, and baby Charlotte was content and wide awake for almost the entire session. They were totally naturals and made my job so easy!

None of us had been to Princeton before, but it was the perfect location to create some family portraits. The trees were in bloom and the beautiful, ivy-covered buildings made it feel like we’d been transported to Europe! There’s something so fun about exploring a new location with my clients. I love getting to experience a new destination with them!

Thanks so much for choosing me to photograph your sweet family, Val!

The light shimmers across the water, the horizon stretches open, and every angle offers a new composition. Portraits […]

Many photographers talk about posing guides: where to place hands, how to stand, how to angle the body. And while posing is important, it’s not the only thing that makes a portrait feel alive. Understanding the key difference that could make or break your portraits, the distinction between posing and art direction, is something many […]
