Ohhh, sweet friends. Settle in and prepare yourself for some BEAUTIFUL images! I had the opportunity to attend Julie Paisley‘s Becoming workshop in Charleston, South Carolina last week. Simply put, it was a DREAM! Julie is one of my all-time favorite photographers and someone whose work and business I greatly admire. It was such an honor to learn from her and shoot alongside for her an entire day! And in my favorite city, too!

Julie and her team designed a gorgeous shoot for an intimate group of just eight photographers. After attending other workshops and shoots this year that involved dozens or even hundreds of attendees, this was SUCH a refreshing change of pace for my introverted soul!

Each of us received dedicated time to photograph three different couples in different environments, flatlay theory and design practice, and even one-on-one time with Julie to review our business, portfolio, and social media. In an industry that can feel rather isolated and slow-growing, it meant the world to have one of the best in the industry look at my work and business critically and say, keep doing what you’re doing!

One of my biggest goals for 2020 & beyond is to photograph more destination weddings, especially in Charleston. This city has always held a special place in my heart – it’s my birthplace, after all! I loved getting to wander the streets, exploring and following light, and looking at it the way that I would on a real wedding day.
