Ben & Olivia | A Winter Maternity Session in DC

Spoiler alert: my NEPHEW is in that cute little bump!!!! My brother, Ben, and his wife Olivia came home to visit for the weekend. I was so excited when they said they were up for creating some maternity portraits – and in DC, no less!

Ben and Olivia live in Florida, but they handled the cold temperatures like champs. I was so impressed! Luckily we were treated to reasonably decent weather and tons of golden winter sunlight. It was so fun getting some one-on-one time with these two and exploring the city together!

Thanks to construction at the Jefferson Memorial and tons of crowds at Lincoln, we had to get a little creative with our portrait locations. However, I think I love these even more than my original plan! We ended up spending the majority of our time at the American Red Cross building. It’s a little different than the typical monument portraits, but still classic DC!

Please enjoy a few favorites from their session this morning! Can’t wait to snuggle my nephew this spring!

Understanding the key difference that could make or break your portraits, the distinction between posing and art direction, is something many […]
