A Summertime Engagement Session in Old Town Alexandria | Eliza & Ryan

Get ready to meet the SWEETEST couple! Eliza and Ryan’s engagement session took place in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia on what had to be the hottest day of summer. These two handled the temps like champs! I was so impressed! We met at my favorite alley so that I could teach them all my posing tricks, and they were instant pros. A champagne toast was the perfect way to kick things off!

This has been a difficult time for all of us, but especially for Eliza and Ryan. Still reeling from the tragic loss of Eliza’s younger brother and Ryan’s dad in the past year, the couple then found themselves forced to quarantine apart from each other for the first few months of their engagement as Ryan is a nurse at a local hospital.

Needless to say, wedding planning hasn’t quite looked like what they expected. I’m so thankful that we could share one happy afternoon together celebrating everything that Eliza and Ryan are, because these two are pretty freaking special! They’re both so warm and fun to be around, it was non-stop laughter from the first moment we met.

Old Town was the perfect location for their engagement portraits, because it’s where Ryan proposed in March of this year. As a photographer I love it because it offers cobblestone streets, historic homes, and waterfront green space all in one location!

Eliza and Ryan are tentatively planning a January wedding, but since they’ve been apart, there are still lots of details to figure out. I can’t wait to see it all come together and get to celebrate with them on that day, too!

Congrats, Eliza and Ryan! Enjoy a few (okay, a LOT) of my favorites from their engagement session!

I’ve honestly lost track of how many times I’ve photographed this family now, and each time truly gets better and better! Sticking with one photographer over the years is one of the best things a family can do, because it allows everyone to feel more comfortable and genuinely enjoy the session. One thing is certain, […]

When you have clients that love and appreciate art as much as Isabella and Jory, you find a way to showcase that love in photos. For them, that meant a National Gallery of Art engagement session. It turned out more perfect than I could have imagined. Including personal items or highlighting shared interests is something […]

When you think of wedding photography, your mind probably goes straight to the romantic wedding portraits, like the epic first kiss at the ceremony, or the newlywed’s first dance. While these wedding day moments are essential and some of my favorites to capture, there are other photos that are just as important but often overlooked […]
