A Monochrome Wedding at Elkridge Furnace Inn | Jess & Dave

I may be known for my love of color, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a classic monochrome wedding! When Jess and I first connected last spring about her wedding, I was instantly in love with her elevated black tie vision. It came to life perfectly through chic black bridesmaids dresses, a grey toned invitation suite, and white anemones sprinkled throughout her bouquet. Her sparkly Kate Spade Keds were my favorite bridal detail – just a little pop of fun and whimsy under all the classic elements!

Don’t let the classic, formal aesthetic fool you! Jess and Dave have huge personalities and are just the most warm and welcoming people. All day long it was big emotions from both of them. Dave teared up at the first look, and Jess broke into tears as she said her vows. It’s been a hard year with COVID postponing their spring wedding until September, and it almost seemed surreal once the day finally arrived. The tears were short-lived though, as laughs and pure joy dominated the day.

Also found throughout Jess and Dave’s wedding were personal touches and small nods to their history together. Jess’s bouquet was wrapped in a piece of lace from her mother’s wedding dress, and she wore a sapphire tennis bracelet that was a gift from her late step-mother, who passed away a few years ago from cancer.

Their best friends shared stories and fun memories from their younger years, and the two shared their first dance to a George Strait song that they first danced to seven years ago early on in their relationship. Once the main events are over, guests took to the dance floor to celebrate with the newlyweds!

Truthfully I’m always a little sad once a wedding day is over, because it means this part of my relationship with the couple is coming to a close. I’m so thankful to have gotten the chance to know Jess and Dave, and to have documented their wedding! Congratulations, you two. Enjoy Jamaica!!!

Emma and Ben chose the Bon Air Rose Garden as the backdrop for their floral-forward engagement portraits in the […]

inspiration for wedding reception with bold color palette

Bold color for wedding days is having a big moment right now. Many couples love the idea of how to incorporate bold color into their wedding, but it can feel overwhelming to dive into designing an event with so much color. I always recommend leaning on your wedding planner to help with creating a cohesive […]

Lindsey and Andrew’s maternity session at Washington National Cathedral was gorgeous – and had the most perfect timing (since Lindsey delivered just days after our time together!). I’m so happy we were able to pull this off for them. When Lindsey and Andrew told me how important their faith was to them, I immediately thought […]
