A Sunny Summer Baltimore Engagement Session

Alaina & Jamie

Have you ever met someone and immediately felt like they were old friends? That’s exactly how I felt with Alaina and Jamie! We met in Fells Point on a hot, sunny June afternoon. It must’ve been 90 degrees in Baltimore that day, without a cloud in the sky, and if I’m being honest, I was SO nervous! This was actually my first time shooting in the Fells Point area, and between the bustle of people and near total lack of shade, I knew it’d be a challenge…but fortunately, these two made my job a breeze!

Normally I tell my clients that the first 15 minutes of the engagement session are going to be a little awkward, but we were seriously cracking up laughing together in no time. I found this tiny little sliver of sidewalk that had one tree that provided *just enough* shade and foreground, and we made it work! I’m sure Alaina and Jamie thought I was crazy, because this first location looked like absolutely nothing special to the naked eye. But just look at these portraits! I love the street view and bistro lights behind them, balanced with the beautiful greens of our one little shade tree.

After that, we headed to a beautiful residential street. This is where their playful personalities really began to shine! I turned my back for just a moment to change lenses, and when I turned around again, Alaina and Jamie were playing Concentration 64. Talk about getting transported right back to childhood! I couldn’t help snapping right then, and it immediately became one of my favorites from their session.

Alaina and Jamie are both so kind-hearted and fun to be around. It’s easy to see why they work perfectly together! These two met while attending college in Pennsylvania, and now they live together in Baltimore with their pup, Harley. I’m so glad we incorporated the city into their session, because it’s the perfect fit for them! We even stopped for a few portraits outside The Admiral’s Cup, a favorite haunt of theirs anytime there’s something to celebrate.

Enjoy a few favorites from their Baltimore engagement session, and be sure to check back in a few months for their wedding recap. Alaina and Jamie are planning a spring wedding at the Belvedere, and I cannot wait to document all the magic!
