Romantic In-Home Proposal
There’s nothing more intimate and personal than a romantic in-home proposal. Brandon pulled out all the stops when he popped the question to Helen, hiring a personal chef and lining the path through their home with candles and flower petals. Flowers were on every surface, and he’d even had menu cards printed with a custom crest adorning the perfectly set table.
It was February 1st, five years to the day since their first date. The long-standing joke between them was that neither remembered exactly when their relationship began, but unbeknownst to Helen, Brandon kept the receipts. He checked their text history, found that first exchange, and had it printed and displayed near the spot he planned to propose. A testament to their shared history, and how far they’d come in so many Februaries.
The plan was set. Brandon schemed to have a colleague of Helen’s take her out for a drink after work, thereby ensuring she wouldn’t arrive home early. I, however, arrived ridiculously early, taking no chances with rush hour beltway traffic. Helen was a bit delayed, and Brandon was clearly nervous. Who wouldn’t be?! I helped him decide exactly where to stand and how to lead her through the space, but ultimately the words were his own.
Helen was completely shocked when she arrived. She had told Brandon that the one thing she wanted in a proposal was to be surprised, and he accomplished that! There were plenty of happy tears, an enthusiastic yes, and literal applause from Helen – my favorite part.
We took a handful of celebratory portraits to capture the moment, and then I quickly got out of their hair so they could enjoy the evening! We’re meeting again for official engagement portraits in a few weeks, and I can’t wait. Congratulations, Brandon and Helen!
