In-Home Newborn Portraits with an Eight Week Old

I am so excited to be sharing Lola’s in-home newborn portraits with you! I visited her family in Solomon’s Maryland to capture her arrival home. Lola was actually already 8 weeks old when we had her newborn portraits. Between the holidays and the adjustment to becoming a family of three, it was the first that we could schedule their session. It was well worth the wait! Lola is absolutely precious and she clearly has her parents wrapped around her finger. She’s so precious and I loved every moment of capturing this family’s in-home newborn portraits in Solomon MD!

In-Home Newborn Portraits with an Older Baby

Thanks to my experience photographing hundreds of babies and the laid-back approach I take to these sessions, the family was still able to get incredible photographs with their newest addition. In fact, she even drifted off in mama’s arms towards the end of the session – resulting in beautiful sleepy images just like we’d aim for with a much younger baby! An older baby simply means a more alert baby – so it’s less likely that we’ll get those traditional newborn photos. But, sometimes, we get lucky and they’re ready to sleep like Lola was. No matter what happens during your newborn portraits, we’ll capture portraits that your family will treasure forever.

Solomon’s Maryland Newborn Portraits

We started with portraits of Lola in the sweet Moses basket in her nursery. She looked so cozy and her parents had the chance to just bask in the joy of having their little girl home. Their nursery and master bedroom had such beautiful light, so we split our time between the two spaces. Lola and her parents snuggled, and like I mentioned, we eventually wore her out! She and her mama looked amazing in similar white outfits and I loved the color palette they chose for their session.

Newborn Session Scheduling Tips

While most newborn sessions traditionally take place in the first couple days or weeks of life, as a mom of three myself that experienced difficult recovery periods, I understand that every family’s fourth trimester looks different and welcome older babies. I always stress to my clients that there’s no need to rush to schedule your session during baby’s first week at home. Take the time to settle into your routines, allow yourself to heal, and I’ll be there when you’re ready for me.

Following in-home newborn portraits, I help families choose the best heirloom products to showcase their imagery. It’s such a fun way to display your portraits in a format that will last for generations so that you can enjoy your special moments for years to come!
