A Colorful, Academia-Inspired Wedding at Meridian House

Michelle and Dan are both wickedly smart, well-read, and career driven, and their planner Marcie Lenick weaved their personalities effortlessly into the details of their wedding at Meridian House. Their venue, Meridian House, is renowned for its awe-inspiring libraries. The couple exchanged vows surrounded by literature, and bookshelves lined the walls of their reception space. Their seating chart design was inspired by vintage library cards, and books were styled into the design of their lounge space. Every aspect of their wedding day felt like Michelle and Dan, a truly incredible feat for this Meridian House wedding.

DC Inspired Wedding Details

The couple also shares a personal history and love of the city of Washington, DC, which could be seen throughout their wedding details. Michelle and Dan utilized custom stamps featuring Katharine Graham, a DC icon and former editor of the Washington Post, on their invitation suites designed by White Ink Calligraphy. They also gifted their guests with copies of their favorite books as wedding favors, one of which was Katharine Graham’s Pulitzer Prize-winning biography, Personal History. As their wedding photographer, I had no shortage of gorgeous details to photograph. I love how deeply Michelle and Dan thought about every aspect of their wedding at Meridian House.

Washington DC Wedding with Bold Colors

Michelle and Dan love bold color, which Marcie Lenick ran with in stunning fashion. Vibrant hues of deep purple, fuchsia, and turquoise could be found everywhere, but most notably in the jaw-dropping 15-foot floral arch created by Sophie Felts. The arch was installed at the entrance to the Meridian House, giving guests a show stopping glance into the party that awaited them inside.

Heartfelt Wedding at Meridian House

While the design of this wedding at Meridian House was spectacular, as usual, it was the real, heartfelt moments that truly made Michelle & Dan’s wedding memorable. The couple celebrated their shared Jewish heritage with a private ketubah signing, witnessed by just their immediate families. Dan’s father has sadly passed away, but the two paid tribute to him with a pair of custom aviation cufflinks for Dan and an ice cream bar for their guests, his favorite dessert.

Michelle and Dan, your wedding at Meridian House was the perfect combination of style, heart, and personality. I am so pleased to have been a small part of the incredible vendor team who brought your colorful and academia inspired wedding at Meridian House to life. I wish you both a lifetime of love – and good books!
