Engagements

Jessica & Dayne | Engaged!

A Waterfront Engagement Session | Saint Mary’s City, Maryland

Jessica’s mom and I have known each other for years through work, and so I was thrilled when they contacted me about wedding and engagement portraits! Jess and her fiancé, Dayne, met at their alma mater, St. Mary’s College of Maryland. They both work at SMCM now and anyone from southern Maryland knows how gorgeous the campus is, so it was a no-brainer that we’d meet there for their engagement session!

The gardens were just beginning to bloom (FINALLY!) and the campus was slowly but surely turning beautiful shades of green. We chatted about their wedding plans and how they met. Dayne is from Japan and the two met when his time as a student at SMCM was coming to an end, so it really was meant to be that their paths crossed here.

The weather was almost as gorgeous as the waterfront, giving us the perfect backdrop for their portraits. Students flocked to the docks to soak in the spring sunset, but you’d never know that there was anyone there but Jess and Dayne.

Don’t be fooled by the sweet images – these two have a sense of humor and are so silly together! I love it when a guy is totally into the process, and if I got Dayne in his element today, I can’t wait to see him on his wedding day in November. Jess told me that one of her favorite things about Dayne is how he makes her laugh. Keep that up, you two, and you’ll be able to take on anything life sends your way!

The light shimmers across the water, the horizon stretches open, and every angle offers a new composition. Portraits […]
