Baby Emmalou Turns One!

A Modern Pink & Gold Cake Smash

I cannot believe sweet little Emmalou is ONE! Ugh, where did that year go?! I couldn’t help but take a little stroll down memory lane while editing these. Emmalou first came to me as a tiny newborn last summer, and then again over the winter for a sitter session. She’s always been such a happy and smiley baby, but I love how she seemed to get more and more comfortable with us each time we met. We love getting to watch our families grow up as we document their milestones!

What better way to celebrate Emmalou’s first year than with a cake smash session? I’m all about these balloon sets lately. These vibrant pink and gold tones made my color-loving heart so happy! This girl was all grins from the moment she walked in the door, so we breezed through a few portraits and got on to the main event: CAKE! Emmalou wasted no time being dainty with her cake. She dove right into it, and even had some icing on her eyelashes by the time she was done!

I love these sessions because they’re just so fun and celebratory. Parents know that first year is all about survival mode. It’s so important to take a moment and celebrate how much your baby has grown! Please enjoy a few favorites from Emmalou’s cake smash!

I’ve honestly lost track of how many times I’ve photographed this family now, and each time truly gets better and better! Sticking with one photographer over the years is one of the best things a family can do, because it allows everyone to feel more comfortable and genuinely enjoy the session. One thing is certain, […]

When you have clients that love and appreciate art as much as Isabella and Jory, you find a way to showcase that love in photos. For them, that meant a National Gallery of Art engagement session. It turned out more perfect than I could have imagined. Including personal items or highlighting shared interests is something […]

When you think of wedding photography, your mind probably goes straight to the romantic wedding portraits, like the epic first kiss at the ceremony, or the newlywed’s first dance. While these wedding day moments are essential and some of my favorites to capture, there are other photos that are just as important but often overlooked […]
