Chelsea & Aaron | A Sotterley Plantation Engagement Session

Chelsea & Aaron | A Sotterley Plantation Engagement Session

Can you believe I’ve lived in southern Maryland almost my whole life, and had NEVER been to Sotterley Plantation until this week?! I’d seen photos and knew it was beautiful, so when Chelsea asked about having their engagement session there, I jumped at the chance. There’s nothing I love more than exploring new locations!

My jaw dropped when we entered the garden at Sotterley. Even well into October, we were surrounded by blooms and a soft breeze off the Patuxent River. Best of all, we had it all to ourselves – and yet somehow, we still ended up with a session crasher!

You may remember Chelsea and Aaron from their maternity session this spring. Suffice it to say that 2019 has been an incredible year for them! First welcoming baby Brooks, then getting engaged in Myrtle Beach – it’s been amazing to watch their story unfold. Brooks was able to join us for a few moments of their engagement session, too! He’s just about four months old now, at that perfect age where they have sweet little personalities. Time flies with babies, and I’m fairly certain Brooks will be sprinting at their May 2020 wedding!

Engagement sessions are the perfect opportunity to practice and get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day. However, Chelsea and Aaron are total naturals! Chelsea’s model face is STUNNING. I can’t wait to see her in a wedding dress soon!

Understanding the key difference that could make or break your portraits, the distinction between posing and art direction, is something many […]
