A Destination Outer Banks Wedding | Nikki & Andy

Finally … FINALLY … our 2020 wedding season has begun! After months of uncertainty and dark times, Nikki and Andy’s Outer Banks wedding was exactly the sort of joy our world needs right now. The weather was perfect, the details were lovely, but most importantly – the happiness that all 36 guests felt was truly palpable.

The Outer Banks is a special place for these two, and it holds a lifetime of happy summer memories. As a little girl Nikki would see couples getting married on the scenic golf courses and beaches, and she dreamed of one day having her own wedding here. The Currituck Club – and Andy! – made those dreams come true with a beautiful al fresco celebration with their closest family and friends. She chose a color palette of pink and grey, which popped against the lush greenery of the golf course.

Nikki and Andy did have to downsize their guest list due to COVID-19, but fewer guests made for an intimate atmosphere with ample time to soak in the day and savor moments with each guest. Their entire wedding day truly felt like a family affair! Andy’s niece designed their bouquets and florals, which featured peonies so you know I was a happy girl! I was welcomed into the celebration with open arms by everyone I met and totally felt like I was part of the family.

Some of my favorite moments were during the first looks, first with Nikki and her dad, and then with Nikki and Andy. I’m thrilled to report that both men totally cried when they saw her! I’m so glad they chose to do a first look, because it allowed us to complete ALL of their formal family portraits long before the ceremony even took place – which means everyone got to actually enjoy cocktail hour and mingle!

Just a few weeks ago we weren’t even sure if this wedding would be able to happen, but it did and it was absolutely PERFECT. Please enjoy a few of my favorites below! Special thanks to matron of honor, Ashley, and best man, Mike, for helping me be a one-woman show throughout the day, and to the rest of Nikki & Andy’s vendor team for making their wedding day everything they dreamed it would be!
