A July wedding wasn’t quite what Chelsea and Aaron had planned, but it was absolutely perfect! When COVID restrictions required their May celebration to be postponed, one new date immediately came to mind: July 25th! This is a date that’s already special to them, as it’s the anniversary of the day that Aaron proposed to Chelsea during a family vacation last year. Waiting a little bit longer to be married was difficult, but honestly, I think it was meant to be!
Chelsea and Aaron’s wedding was the epitome of southern Maryland, which is home to them both. They were married at their home church in a full Catholic ceremony, with a lively reception afterwards at Bowles Farm. Their details included personalized crabknockers and an emotional first look at Chelsea’s family farm, but the most southern Maryland detail of all?
A few weeks ago, we realized that I am actually RELATED to Aaron! His grandmother and my grandmother are cousins, and we didn’t even realize it until I saw a familiar name on the family formals list. Even funnier is that our grandmas apparently had known for months! It was so fun to meet a distant relative on their wedding day! It is a SMALL county, that’s for sure!
Their wedding day was a party from start to finish, but it wasn’t without emotional moments. Aaron’s dad passed away while Chelsea was pregnant with Brooks, and his presence was definitely felt. Right after the first look, Chelsea surprised her groom with a painted portrait of Aaron, his dad, and Brooks, whom he never got a chance to meet. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight!
Emotional moments with parents always seem to get me on wedding days. Maybe it’s because I’m a mom of two girls, so I tear up just thinking about their wedding days. Daddy-daughter dances, mom zipping the bride into her dress – those are the times I typically get teary behind the camera. So when Chelsea’s sister, Kim, relayed a story about Chelsea and Aaron on the day Brooks was born, I totally lost it. Luckily I don’t think I was the only one crying happy tears in the room!
Chelsea and Aaron complement each other so well and truly are just absolutely perfect for each other. It’s been such an honor and a joy to document so many happy milestones for this family!
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Mulvin!
