A Summer Wedding at Weatherly Farm

Sarah & Nick

Sarah and Nick’s wedding was one to remember! The excitement was palpable from the moment I pulled up the driveway at Weatherly Farm. It was a perfect summer day, warm but breezy, as their family and friends gathered to celebrate. The couple is from the Eastern shore, but chose one of my favorite southern Maryland venues, Weatherly Farm, for their big day. I’m so glad they did! The soft lilac and grey color palette complemented the abundant greenery and waterfront views perfectly.

These two had been on the fence about doing a first look at first, but afterwards, were SO glad they did! One of my favorite moments was right before the first look moment. Nick asked me how he was supposed to react – was he “supposed” to cry? I told him absolutely not – there’s zero expectation during a first look whatsoever! That’s actually what’s great about a first look. You’re free to show whatever emotion feels right in that moment, to hold each other tight, to gush over how great the other person looks. In Nick and Sarah’s case, there were definitely a few tears!

The forecast showed just a 7% chance of rain and the sky was practically cloudless all day, so imagine my surprise when right as dinner was being served, their wedding planner, Lauren from The Hitched Co., runs over and says we have to pull everyone inside right now. A huge storm is coming and it’s about to downpour – even though the sun was out! Sure enough, as we looked over the water, we could see the storm clouds and rain coming our way quickly. Lauren and the Weatherly team sprang into action, moving the entire dinner buffet under the tent in a matter of minutes, and the storm only stuck around through dinner! THAT is why you hire a wedding planner, folks – you need someone watching the radar, even when it looks perfectly gorgeous outside!

The storm cleared almost as quickly as it arrived, and we were treated to a beautiful sunset. Sarah and Nick sneaked out of their reception for a few portraits during golden hour, and they’re some of my favorites from the entire day! Scroll down to see even more faves from their wedding. Congratulations, Sarah and Nick! Enjoy St. Lucia!
