A Summer Engagement Session in Downtown Annapolis

Jen & Brent

I can’t wait to introduce you to Jen and Brent! It’s hard to believe, but I’ve known Jen for well over ten years now. We first met when I was attending the University of Maryland – I was in the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha, and she was one of our chapter’s alumna advisors! It’s so funny to think that there was definitely a time I was a little afraid of Jen and might have tried to sneak a few things past her in the sorority house, and now here we are and I get to photograph her WEDDING!

Thank goodness things worked out the way they did, because I just love her and Brent and the beautiful life they’ve created together. Brent is totally perfect for Jen – and reminds me so much of Adam that it’s a little scary how alike they are! He loves to tease Jen and their banter is hilarious, but I’m pretty sure he’s still a big softie underneath it all!

We met in Annapolis for their engagement session, and actually began their session on the rooftop of the parking garage. A little unorthodox for sure, but the light was PERFECT and there wasn’t a soul in sight – a rare find on a beautiful summer night in Annapolis! Afterwards, we walked down to the docks for more portraits by the water. The light was bright, but we made it work and I love the result!

To wrap things up (and as a little moment of bribery for Brent, no shame in our game) we stopped for a quick drink and a bite together at one of the restaurants downtown. I absolutely love it when I get some “off” time with my couples to simply talk and spend time together. It’s the perfect chance for them to slow down and celebrate their engagement, too!

Enjoy a few favorites from their engagement session, and stay tuned for the wedding next spring!

The light shimmers across the water, the horizon stretches open, and every angle offers a new composition. Portraits […]

Understanding the key difference that could make or break your portraits, the distinction between posing and art direction, is something many […]
