It’s so hard to believe I’m already sharing Baby Lucas’ studio milestone session in La Plata MD! As a Maryland wedding and family photographer, there’s not much I love more than the chance to photograph my couples as they become parents, and then as their children grow. Anna and John are longtime clients of mine. I photographed their engagement session and wedding. Now, they’re parents to the sweetest little boy, Lucas, and I’ve been documenting his first year since they’re members of the AWP Membership Program. We recently captured his six month studio milestone session and I can’t believe his first year is halfway over! 

Studio Milestone Session in La Plata MD

Because Lucas’s six month studio milestone session in La Plata MD fell during winter, we chose to utilize Costola Studio, a local studio in La Plata, MD for this session. I love the gorgeous natural light and open space, it’s the perfect blank canvas for family portraits! Lucas and his parents were free to snuggle up together on the fluffy white blanket in the warm studio. He also what a big boy he was – sitting by himself in his sweet custom knit sweater! I love six month milestones because your little one’s personality is starting to come through and they always have new skills to show off. The portraits become more interactive and it’s such a special time. As a parent myself, I know how quickly these stages all go and it’s so important for me to capture your baby’s special skills and their tiny toes and fingers. This studio milestone session in La Plata MD was simple, but just perfect for this little guy!

Neutral Winter Six Month Milestone Portraits

We chose to keep things fairly neutral within the studio, leaning into white, light wood tones, and some soft blues. Most milestone sessions are a mix of family portraits and solo portraits of your baby, so I enjoyed being in a space where we could move around – and his parents could jump in if Lucas needed a little less attention on himself! Lucas also bought his tiny little Paddington bear, and it was the perfect whimsical touch to his portraits. He is truly growing so much and I know he’ll look like a whole other little person by his one year session. Watching these babies grow up is one of the reasons I love our AWP Membership Program so much!
