Samar & Griffin | A Summer Wedding at Herrington on the Bay

When Samar and Griffin hired me to photograph their summer wedding at Herrington on the Bay, AND their welcome party the evening before, I knew it was going to be an unforgettable weekend. Their welcome party was such a relaxed and joyful way to begin the weekend. Before the excitement and formalities of the wedding day began, I was able to spend time getting to know their closest family and friends. I truly love documenting an entire wedding weekend whenever I have the opportunity. It allows me to get to know my couples even more and capture their full wedding story that includes all the little moments that happen before, during, and after the main celebration.

A Coastal Summer Garden Party

For their wedding day, Samar and Griffin envisioned a clean, summer aesthetic with beautiful pops of color and an unmistakable party atmosphere. Their soft summer florals featured shades of peach, pink, and light blue, creating a fresh and romantic palette that felt perfect for a Chesapeake Bay wedding. The overall design had an effortless coastal garden-party vibe. Every detail felt thoughtfully chosen to complement the natural beauty of the waterfront setting.

Their outdoor wedding ceremony took place on the lawn facing the water. Guests watched Samar and Griffin exchange vows under a beautiful wooden wedding arch with the water behind them creating a gorgeous and relaxing setting.

The indoor reception was a party! Samar and Griffin wanted their wedding to feel like a true celebration, and their packed dance floor delivered. From the moment the music started, their guests were ready to celebrate, and the energy stayed up all evening long.

One of my favorite details from their wedding was also one of the most personal. Griffin is a talented musician and singer, and he actually wrote a song specifically for Samar, which they used for their first dance!  It was such a special personal touch for this music-loving couple.

Summer Wedding at Herrington on the Bay

Herrington on the Bay was the perfect setting for the coastal garden-party celebration Samar and Griffin envisioned. Located along the Chesapeake Bay, Herrington on the Bay offers a waterfront Maryland wedding venue with lush gardens, beautiful landscaping, and endless opportunities for portraits, which we absolutely took advantage of!

Samar and Griffin’s wedding weekend was filled with music, laughter, beautiful summer details, waterfront views, and the people they love most. It was such a joy to be there for all of it! Congratulations to you both!

There’s something undeniably captivating about the waterfront. Maryland’s waterfront venues, whether tucked along the Chesapeake Bay, lining the Eastern Shore, or framed by historic piers, have a way of making portraits feel expansive without ever feeling empty. The light shimmers across the water, the horizon stretches open, and every angle offers a new composition. Portraits […]

Many photographers talk about posing guides: where to place hands, how to stand, how to angle the body. And while posing is important, it’s not the only thing that makes a portrait feel alive. Understanding the key difference that could make or break your portraits, the distinction between posing and art direction, is something many […]
