Hunter & Dan | A Classic DC Wedding at the Hay Adams

Hunter and Dan’s chic wedding at the Hay Adams in Washington DC was absolutely incredible. Their day was stylish and full of thoughtful personal touches… and I’m not the only one who thinks so. I’m incredibly pleased to share that Hunter and Dan’s wedding was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings! It was an honor to celebrate with Hunter and Dan – and to be able to share their love story and celebration with Martha Stewart Weddings, too!

Stylish DC Wedding Day

From the start, Hunter and Dan knew that they wanted their wedding day to feel unique and totally them. They really set the tone early on with their incredible invitation suite featuring an intricate and detailed map of Washington DC. Seriously, no detail escaped their vision! As Martha Stewart Weddings wrote, Hunter and Dan’s wedding was elegant with the perfect amount of masculine touches. But, the special details didn’t stop there. Hunter and Dan each chose their own wedding day looks – including passed down guinea feather and cufflinks for Hunter and a one-of-a-kind dinner jacket for Dan made by Mark Powell.

Hay Adams Hotel Wedding

Hunter and Dan were married at the Hay Adams in Washington, DC. They actually had their first look on a balcony that provided the most jaw-dropping and sweeping views of DC – including the White House and Washington Monument. Their first look was extra special because both Hunter and Dan had kept their outfit choices from the other, so their big reveal was a great moment!

Elegant Wedding Ceremony in Washington DC

To kick off their ceremony, they had a bagpiper as a nod to Hunter’s UK roots. He played both national anthems to welcome their guests. After, Hunter and Dan walked down the aisle together to one of their favorite songs. They exchanged beautiful and heartfelt vows before being announced as married!

Washington DC Wedding Portraits

Afterwards, I convinced Hunter and Dan to capture a few portraits outside the Hay Adams – which wound up being all of our favorite photos from the day! They really wanted to be a part of the cocktail hour, so we made sure to do many portraits before their ceremony to make that possible. Dan is a professional oboist -, so many of his colleagues and friends helped bring music to their celebration – including the cocktail hour.

Warm Reception inside the Hay Adams Hotel

Dan and Hunter planned a warm and intimate reception inside the Hay Adams, featuring many white and gold details. They reflected the warm atmosphere inside the party and all of the tall floral centerpieces stole my breath! It was truly a beautiful and elegant affair.

Congratulations again, Hunter and Dan! I’m so happy I could be a part of your incredibly elegant DC wedding day!
