A Stormy Kent Island Engagement Session | Sarah & Nick

Oh, you guys. I have never experienced such dramatic weather changes during a session as I did during Sarah & Nick’s engagement session! I watched the forecast anxiously all week long. There was a torrential downpour the whole drive up to Kent Island from southern Maryland, yet the forecast insisted we’d have a little break right at the time we were set to shoot. And thank the Lord, that is EXACTLY what we got! It poured the whole way there, the whole way home, and even during the drive between locations, but not a single drop fell on these two while we were shooting! In fact, we had perfect glowy light the whole time. This was totally just meant to be!

Kent Island is Sarah and Nick’s hometown, so it was the perfect setting for their engagement session. A family friend let us shoot on their private waterfront property, and the view was absolutely gorgeous! Their golden retriever pup, Miley, joined us for the first few minutes. I always tell my couples the first few minutes of a session can be a little awkward (especially with dogs and/or kids in the mix!), but Sarah and Nick made it look SO EASY! To be able to jump right in to being photographed, puppy in tow and dark storm clouds rolling overhead – I am just so impressed!

I love engagement sessions because it gives me the chance to spend a little time with my couples and really get to know them. These two are truly beautiful inside and out! Sarah greeted me with a giant hug and you can tell Nick never meets a stranger. He was literally stopping to chat with friends even as we drove down the road!

Sarah and Nick love to travel – they actually got engaged during a cruise on Nick’s birthday – but they love their friends and family so much, that they’re choosing to have a big local wedding so that everyone can celebrate with them. They’re getting married at Weatherly Farm next summer! Weatherly is one of my favorite southern Maryland venues, so you know I’m already counting down the days!

Congratulations again, Sarah & Nick! Please enjoy a few faves below!
