I’m so excited to finally share these images! Melissa and Ian just announced their engagement a few days ago, so I was keeping them under wraps … but now the secret is out! The timing was so perfect for this session, as these two had literally just gotten engaged in the weeks prior. They spend a lot of time in Georgetown, so it made the perfect location for their engagement portraits!

The weather was incredibly hot the day of their session, so we made the call to change the time from 2PM to 6PM. This turned out to be the right choice, as we had a bit of a breeze and amazing glowy light to work with! Still, we worked FAST. I’m pretty sure these two learned my whole posing workflow in about 10 minutes flat, and then they were experts in front of the camera!

Melissa and Ian both go to the same gym that I do, but we’d never actually met before this session. I’m so glad we finally got connected! The walk from Georgetown Waterfront park to the C&O canal is more like a hike, so we joked that we’d definitely gotten our workout in. (I walked about 20,000 steps on the day of their engagement session so yes, I would say so!)

Truthfully, I’d never been to the C&O canal at this time of day and I wasn’t totally convinced the light would work, since the canal is down in a ravine. I was so wrong – it was GORGEOUS down there! I’m so glad we took a chance and went for it!

Congratulations, Melissa & Ian! Please enjoy a few of my favorites from their Georgetown engagement session!
