I am SO excited for you to meet Jeni and Jonathan! Jeni wrote me the SWEETEST email right after Jonathan proposed. Turns out Jeni has been following along with the AWP blog since before these two even started dating, and I was the first vendor they locked in for their wedding next year. Talk about an HONOR!!! It just goes to show that you never know who’s following along with your story! Needless to say I was so excited to finally meet them – and a little nervous about wanting everything to go absolutely perfect!
As luck would have it, I had nothing to worry about. We felt like old friends right away and have so much in common! Jeni loves Taylor Swift and Lilly Pulitzer, and Jonathan is so sweet to her. We met at Tudor Hall in Leonardtown because we needed a quiet location for a little session crasher – their cat, Lina, joined us for a few portraits! I’ve photographed plenty of dogs, but Lina was my first time photographing a cat. She was so sweet, although a little hesitant to leave the comfort of her carrier!
After we wrapped up with Lina, we ventured over to downtown Leonardtown for more portraits. This was the perfect location because it’s special to them as a couple. Jeni works at SPICE Studio and the couple had their first date at The Rex, so naturally we had to take a few portraits in those locations. SPICE has the most perfect neutral wall on the side of the building that I instantly loved!
We finished up by the wharf! Jeni wore the cutest Lilly shift and Jonathan matched perfectly in cornflower blue dress pants. After spending just an hour with these two, it’s obvious that Jeni and Jonathan are a perfect match. They’re both warm and kind, and even though I always joke that the first few minutes of engagement sessions are awkward, that was NOT the case with these two! You can tell that they’re so comfortable together.
Please enjoy a few favorites from their engagement session! Congrats, Jeni and Jonathan. I can’t wait to celebrate next May!
