An Autumn Engagement Session in Downtown Annapolis

Meghan & Pete

The fall is off to a crazy busy start, but I’m finally getting a chance to share Meghan and Pete’s engagement session! We met in downtown Annapolis earlier this month, on a perfectly crisp Friday evening right as the temperature was starting to drop. These two have a baby boy, Parker, but they were all mine for the evening! I can’t wait to meet that little guy, but I’m sure Meghan and Pete were SO thankful for a night off, celebrating themselves!

What I loved most about Meghan and Pete is how relaxed and easy-going they are. They were both totally up for wandering around, stopping along the way as we found pretty streets and great light in Annapolis. Turns out that Pete actually proposed during a date night in Annapolis, so it was the perfect location for their engagement portraits!

I love to follow all of my couples on social media because it helps me get to know them – feeling like old friends by the time of the wedding is VERY important to me. However, sometimes I forget that means my couples are getting to know me, too! Meghan and Pete got me the sweetest gift that is SO me – a Lilly Pulitzer tumbler and a gift card to Starbucks! Two things that are basically my love language. So thankful for sweet, thoughtful clients like them!

After exploring downtown, we wrapped up near the Annapolis City Dock for some classic pier portraits. The sun was still bright and high in the sky, so we kept shooting in little 1-2 minute bursts right when a cloud would come along and diffuse the light! It was totally worth the wait (and probably looking crazy!) to get that soft, even light on their faces!

Enjoy a few favorites from Meghan and Pete’s engagement session! Congrats, you two. Can’t wait to celebrate at Running Hare next fall!

The light shimmers across the water, the horizon stretches open, and every angle offers a new composition. Portraits […]

Understanding the key difference that could make or break your portraits, the distinction between posing and art direction, is something many […]
