A Classic Spring Wedding at the Tidewater Inn

Megan & Evan

The third time was the charm for these two! After two postponements due to COVID and a very uncertain forecast leading up to the big day, Megan and Evan finally got the perfect wedding they deserved. Their closest friends and family gathered at the Tidewater Inn in Easton, MD to celebrate a day that’s been anticipated by so many for a long time. Megan and Evan have been together for eight years and already have two adorable children, Bradley and Oliver, so it definitely felt like a day that was a long time coming!

A few days beforehand, I noticed that the forecast looked … awful for Sunday. And not just a little light rain scattered throughout the day, either. We’re talking severe storm warnings all day, downpours, and dangerous winds. We kept an eye on the forecast throughout the day, praying for pockets of drizzle that we could work with for portraits. Megan and Evan’s wedding day is literally Exhibit A for why having a first look is SO important! With plenty of portrait time built into the timeline prior to the ceremony, we knew we’d be able accomplish all the portraits they were envisioning even with rain – it’d just be a matter of when the weather would allow us to sneak outside.

Somehow, despite the odds, not a SINGLE drop of rain fell until after sunset on their wedding day! In fact, the sun even peeked out at one point! I honestly can’t believe we got so lucky, but I am SO thankful. Megan and Evan are two of the most kind and caring people you could ever meet, and they absolutely deserved the amazing weather.

In some ways, that uncertain forecast giving way to a beautiful day perfectly encapsulates their engagement, too. With two kids already in tow, they’ve already weathered so many of life’s storms together and come out even stronger on the other side. I’ll never forget how gracious they were last spring when COVID forced them to cancel their original wedding date. Megan and Evan valued the health and safety of their guests more than anything, and they knew this incredible day would be worth waiting for.

Their wedding day was filled with beautiful moments with the people they love most. Their daughter, Bradley, bounced back and forth between the bride and groom’s suites, spending time with each of her parents before the ceremony. Megan and Evan chose to read their vows to each other in private during their first look, which was both emotional and hilarious as Megan had just written hers that morning!

After the year we’ve had, Megan and Evan’s wedding felt like a breath of fresh air. It reminded all of us there that there are better days ahead if we just focus on what’s most important – each other. Megan and Evan, thank you for trusting me to document this day for you. Enjoy a few of my favorites below!

Sailboat Engagement Session in Baltimore's Inner Harbor

Engagement sessions are meant to be romantic, intimate, and centered on the quiet connection between two people in love. For Zack and Kara, their sailboat engagement session in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor was the epitome of romantic engagement. There is something about being out on the water with sunlight dancing across the water’s surface and the […]

I’ve honestly lost track of how many times I’ve photographed this family now, and each time truly gets better and better! Sticking with one photographer over the years is one of the best things a family can do, because it allows everyone to feel more comfortable and genuinely enjoy the session. One thing is certain, […]

When you have clients that love and appreciate art as much as Isabella and Jory, you find a way to showcase that love in photos. For them, that meant a National Gallery of Art engagement session. It turned out more perfect than I could have imagined. Including personal items or highlighting shared interests is something […]
