A Summer Wedding in Old Town Alexandria

Emily & Jesse

They’re finally married! After months of uncertainty and ever-changing plans thanks to COVID, Emily and Jesse finally got the beautiful hometown church wedding they’d wanted all along. The early June Saturday was warm, but full of sunshine and joy for this incredibly sweet couple!

I still remember the first phone call I ever had with Emily and her mom… we bonded over our love of Gilmore Girls and peonies, and that’s when I knew we’d be a perfect match! Sure enough, on the wedding day, I truly felt like another member of the family. Everyone I met was so kind and welcomed me with open arms, it truly made my job so easy!

With Emily’s love of peonies, I had high expectations for her florals…and they were beyond my wildest dreams! Big, vibrant coral charm peonies flanked by garden roses, ranunculus, and other beautiful blooms I couldn’t even name. I’m so glad that AWP brides love color as much as I do! My 2021 couples are raising the bar with their color palettes and unique design elements, and I am here for it!

Emily and Jesse met at their church and both work there as well, so it was the perfect location for their wedding ceremony. They shared a beautiful first look right outside the sanctuary, and I loved that so much of their wedding day took place in a location so special to them. Also, I have to say in case you don’t know them – Emily and Jesse are literally the kindest people. The way they adore each other is just the sweetest thing!

After the ceremony, we headed into Old Town for couples portraits. We had my favorite cobblestone alley and beautiful residential areas practically all to ourselves, which was surprising on a beautiful Saturday evening! From there, we met their families at Mount Vernon for an intimate garden reception. Jesse’s sister gifted them with gorgeous artwork of the couple she’d literally drawn THAT DAY. Talk about talent!

Emily and Jesse, thank you so much for having me! Enjoy a few of my favorites below!

There’s something incredibly special about capturing couples in a place that feels like home… especially when that place is Brooklyn, NYC. For Danny and Paige, choosing their neighborhood of Williamsburg for their engagement session wasn’t just convenient. It was deeply personal. It’s where they live, walk their dog, grab coffee, and live their lives together. […]
